The hardest working girls in show business – Morning Musume
Tweet
The thing I was most excited for at Anime Expo 2009 was the chance to see Morning Musume perform. I have followed the band since 2001 and have never had the opportunity to see what their performances are like. After Anime Expo 2009, I believe these girls are the hardest working girls in show business.
Performers in the US make millions of dollars for their pop sounds and often justify lip syncing due to the choreography. These pop stars should sit down and take notes from Morning Musume. The group of nine girls move non-stop and it never affects their singing. At the end of the show, the girls were soaked in sweat from working hard and still smiling and performing.
Morning Musume is a Japanese girl group that sings and dances to typical upbeat JPop music. The lead group is called Hello! Project and that has all the girls in it. In the past the group has split off into small side projects. Mini Moni being one of my favorites.
Morning Musume is known for it’s changing line-up. That’s right, the girls graduate and auditions are held nearly every year. In 2007, Morning Musume added two Chinese girls to the group.
The current members of Morning Musume are:
Ai Takahashi
Risa Niigaki
Eri Kamei
Sayumi Michishige
Reina Tanaka
Koharu Kusumi
Aika Mitsui
Junjun
Linlin
Tsunku is the producer who created the group in 1997.
These wonderful girls performed for an hour with two very small breaks. Constant dancing teamed with excellent singing that made everyone in the audience stand and dance with them. Morning Musume actually sang through their collection of songs and sang “3,2,1 Breakin’ Out!” the official song for Anime Expo. The whole time they performed, the members smiled and interacted with the crowd. They barely paused to do a costume change. The one disappointing aspect of the night was the exclusion of an encore. Fans stayed about 15 minutes after the show screaming for an encore. I hope that Morning Musume will do a tour in America so that more fans have a chance to see these wonderful ladies perform!
