So last night I was playing Halo 3 with my boyfriend, trying to get in some Action Sack games before sitting down and doing homework. I'm used to getting the occasional friend request from someone in the game, usually on my side, and sometimes, if they're good, I'll add them and play custom games with them later on.

Last night, though, I got a friend request from someone. I decided to delete it, mostly because he was on the opposite team, he wasn't good, and I just didn't want another random person on my friends list. Less than a minute later, he sends me another one along with a 15-second long BLANK voice message. I deleted both. Another minute passes and I get a third friend request. I send a message back saying 'please don't send me friend requests', deleted that request. Started playing games again, but I think I got another 3 requests (each coming after I deleted the previous one) over the course of 10 minutes.

Granted, I filed a complaint for Text Message – Harassment, and put an 'avoid this player' review. I sent him a message saying 'consider yourself blocked and reported' to which I got a 7th friend request and a message going 'why?'. I finally blocked him with that message, since you can't block someone because of friend requests.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem with someone or persisitant friend request invites? Was I out of my rights as a gamer to do what I did? Should I have done something different? I dunno, it just really bothered me.

You did everything you could besides "avoid contact with this person" or that could be the "blocking" you speak of. You were right in doing what you did but the only thing i could think about as far as reflecting on your actions is that you actually did tell the person that they were blocked and such. I think the lesser of two evils there would've been just not talk to the person or ignore them and be done with it. Sometimes by telling the person that it only makes matters worse and escalates the situation(depending on the kinda person they are). Either that or they were either really young or there was a language barrier thing going on but we can't confirm that from the details. lol People are sometimes nice about things like this and some well…aren't. I guess it all depends on what you think. I personally wouldn't be bothered with it because its just frequent friend requests and i'd ignore it given the circumstances.

Hope that helps Reno.

I get so many friend requests… that I have to constantly remove people just to put them in a spot.  I give them the courtesy and let them sit on my list for a while.  If we don't play or talk at all, they eventually get removed.  I try to give everyone a chance because you never know if they may turn out really cool and be a good co-op buddy for a game that no one else is playing.  I also block my friends list because of all the female gamers I have. Some gamers tend to just want people on their friends list just because you are female.  I see that happen a lot.

This person who kept sending you invites repeatedly, while you kept giving hints.. "no thanks".. deserved getting blocked and reported. .It was downright harrassment.. You did the right thing..

Same. It is a very worthwhile tactic.

I have a full list most of the time and I have to be selective about those I add, especially since I get a ton of FRs from Raptr almost daily. Nothing personal. Cool

On the same kind of note, does anyone ever get random friend requests from various guys? Ok I know that sounds weird/stupid but to be honest the majority of my Live time since the beginning of this semester has been on Netflix or one-player games. The last time I played a multiplayer game of any kind it was private with only people I know in real life and even that has been months. Anyways…it's generally just really strange (and generally much younger) guys that send random friend requests. It's been going on for months (before I joined GA) and I haven't a clue where they're getting my info from since they don't know my friends. Either way…just cuious if it happens to anyone else.

it has happened to me before. I get a lot of very random friend requests. some of them are from young guys looking to play with a chick and be a perv, but some of them have actually been from chicks looking for other female gamers to hang with. I know one woman found my GT on mygamercard.net. My bio mentions my being a mother and she was looking for other gaming moms. I didnt even know you could "browse" GTs there.
